A couple hundred Arlington residents turned out to help the city kick off its 150th birthday celebration during a pop up event at City Hall on Thursday.
The celebration invited attendees to enjoy birthday cake and sign Arlington’s official birthday card. Although the city’s anniversary falls on July 19, officials scheduled the event a few days early to give more community members the chance to participate.
Residents filled the City Hall first floor lobby, lining up for cake, posing for photos and picking up Arlington 150th branded giveaways. Families, city staff and longtime locals joined in to mark the milestone and reflect on the city’s growth over the past century and a half.
