The next sticker from our Arlington 150 collection has arrived, and we think everyone is going to want this one! Introducing the train sticker! 🚂 While many of us get annoyed with the train, especially on mornings when we are already running late, there would be no Arlington without the train tracks. In 1876, the arrival of the Texas and Pacific Railway connected a small North Texas settlement to a growing network of communities, bringing new opportunities for commerce, travel, and growth. The community that formed around those rails would become the Arlington we know today. After 150 years, we think everyone who lives in Arlington has earned at least one train-related excuse. Collect a commemorative train sticker for free at City Hall, your local library, or a recreation center, and print off this VERY OFFICIAL excuse note, and present them both to work, school, etc. We can't promise the note and sticker will be accepted, but it doesn't hurt to try. #Arlington150

Happy Birthday Arlington 🥳🎂 Exactly 150 years ago, on July 19, 1876, our city was founded and has transformed from a small stop along the Texas and Pacific Railway into the seventh largest city in Texas and the 50th largest in the nation. This week, residents joined us at Arlington City Hall for some birthday cake and to sign a birthday card. We are holding multiple events throughout the year as we celebrate Arlington's sesquicentennial. Residents, businesses, schools, faith communities and civic organizations are encouraged to join us in the upcoming celebrations commemorating the milestone.
