The “Arlington Archives” podcast kicks off its newest episode with a spirited exploration of Arlington’s most famous thrill destination: Six Flags Over Texas. Host OK Carter, a longtime local historian known for bringing the city’s past to life, welcomes media veteran Steve Pyburn for a conversation rich with firsthand memories, behind‑the‑scenes insight and a look at how the park helped shape Arlington’s identity.
Carter traces the theme park’s 1961 debut and its early concept built around the six nations that once governed Texas, noting its early role in shaping Arlington’s emergence as an entertainment center.
“Six Flags Over Texas continues to be an institution of Arlington,” Carter said.
