The bookmark series is part of the yearlong Arlington150 celebration. Earlier this year, the City of Arlington partnered with the Arlington Independent School District to challenge sixth‑grade students to design bookmarks inspired by Arlington’s history, future, landmarks and neighborhoods.
A panel of judges, including Arlington Mayor Jim Ross and AISD representatives, selected seven winners from entries submitted across the district. Designs were chosen for creativity, originality and how well they captured the spirit of the sesquicentennial. Students were recognized at the May 19, 2026, Arlington City Council meeting.
With support from the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation, the winning bookmarks have been professionally reproduced for communitywide distribution. They will be available while supplies last. Along with the June 2 launch at all library branches, residents can also find a rotating selection of the seven bookmark designs at the Welcome Desk on the first floor of Arlington City Hall located at 101 W. Abram St. Bookmarks will also be included in backpacks distributed during AISD’s annual Back to School Kickoff in August, sharing Arlington150 spirit with students and families across the city.
