In 1872, Edward Emmett Rankin and Edna Broiles Rankin were encouraged to move to Arlington by Dr. Willie Stokely Broiles.
Eventually Mr. Rankin joined Mr. Randall in the operation of a hardware store located in the 100 block of East Main.
Mr. Rankin continued the operation of the store until the mid-depression when bankruptcy caused its closure.
EE Rankin served as mayor of Arlington for a very short time in 1885. His descendents of E.E. Rankin included Edward II, Edward III and Edward IV.
